FLUX 3 Max vs Seedance 2.5

FLUX 3 Max is a fast AI video model post-trained by fal with Black Forest Labs, and Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance’s long-take video model. They tie on image-to-video quality in a preliminary blind test, but FLUX 3 Max renders a 10-second clip in about 12 seconds where Seedance 2.5 takes over four and a half minutes in the same benchmark. Choose FLUX 3 Max to try many 5 to 20 second shots quickly; choose Seedance 2.5 for single takes up to 30 seconds or to edit and extend video from reference files.

Render times are fal’s benchmark; Elo scores are Artificial Analysis’ preliminary image-to-video arena as reported on October 19, 2026. Neither is our measurement.

Speed: the biggest difference

FLUX 3 Max is about 22 times faster than Seedance 2.5 in fal’s benchmark, 12.45 seconds against 277.80 for a 10-second clip.[fal] That changes how you work: at that speed you can try ten versions of a shot in the time Seedance 2.5 renders one, and pick the best.

The catch is that faster drafts invite more attempts, so the total spend depends on how many takes you keep, not only on the price per second.

Quality: a tie, for now

In Artificial Analysis’ preliminary image-to-video arena, FLUX 3 Max and Seedance 2.5 both scored about 1,138–1,139 Elo, and MiniMax H3 (768p) sat a point or two above them.[fal][VentureBeat] The confidence intervals overlap, so none of the three has a clear lead.

The arena judges image-to-video clips with audio only; it says nothing about text-to-video, and the scores are preliminary. fal also calls FLUX 3 Max a first iteration that it is still training.[PR Newswire]

Choose FLUX 3 Max when

  • You want to iterate: many takes of a 5 to 20 second shot, quickly.
  • You are animating a still image and want top-tier image-to-video quality.
  • You pay per second through an API and want the lower rate.

Choose Seedance 2.5 when

  • You need one continuous take of 20 to 30 seconds.
  • You want to steer the shot with reference images, videos or audio, up to 50 files.
  • You need to edit or extend an existing clip rather than start from scratch.

When Flux3Max is not the answer

Flux3Max runs FLUX 3 Max and nothing else. If your project needs a 30-second take, reference videos or audio, or editing an existing clip, use Seedance 2.5 through a provider such as fal or OpenRouter instead; we cannot do those things here. If you are building a product, call either model through an API rather than a web app.

The bottom line

On quality the two are level today, so the choice comes down to the shape of the job: FLUX 3 Max trades the longest takes and reference control for speed that lets you try far more ideas, while Seedance 2.5 trades speed for 30-second takes and editing from references.

Questions

Is FLUX 3 Max better than Seedance 2.5?

On image-to-video quality they are level: both scored about 1,138–1,139 Elo in Artificial Analysis’ preliminary arena, inside each other’s confidence intervals. FLUX 3 Max is far faster, while Seedance 2.5 does longer takes and works from reference files. Which is better depends on whether you need speed or length and references.

How much faster is FLUX 3 Max than Seedance 2.5?

About 22 times in fal’s benchmark: 12.45 seconds against 277.80 seconds for a 10-second, 16:9 clip. That is fal’s own measurement, and real waits also depend on queues and upload time.

Which one makes longer videos?

Seedance 2.5, with single takes of up to 30 seconds against 20 for FLUX 3 Max. For anything longer, both need several shots edited together.

Can I use Seedance 2.5 on Flux3Max?

No. Flux3Max runs only FLUX 3 Max. Seedance 2.5 is available through providers such as fal and OpenRouter.
